Amlodipine tablets


Each box containing 10x10 tablets in blister pack.

Each film-coated tablet contains Amlodipine Besilate BP equivalent to Amlodipine 10mg.

Amo (Amlodipine ) is a dihydropyridne derivative . It is a calcium-channel blocker with a long dutation of action and used for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris .Amlodipine  influences the myocardial cells ,the cells within the specialized conducting system of the heart and the cells of the vasculatr smooth muscle .Adminstration of Amlodipine results primarily in vasodilation ,with reduced peripheral resistance ,blood pressure and after load increased coronary heart  rate.This is turn results in an increase in myocardial oxygen supply and cardiac output.
INDICATION
1.Amlodipine is indicated for the treatment of hypertension .It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
2.Amlodipine is indicated for the treatment of chronic stable angina.Amldipine may be used alone or in combination with other antianginal agents.
3.Amlodipine is indicated for the treatment of confirmed or suspected vasospastic angia.Amldipine may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antianginal drugs.
DOSAGE AND ADMINSTRATION
The usual initial antihypertensive oral dose of Amlopidine is 5 mg once daily with a maximum dose of 10 mg once daily.Small ,fragile or elderly individuals or patients with hepatic insufficient may be started on 2.5 mg once daily and this dose may be used when adding Amlodipine to other antihypertensive therapy.
Dosage should be adjusted according to need ofeach patient .The recommended dose for chronic satble or vasopastic angia is 5-10 mg with the lower dose suggested in the elderly and in patients with hepatic insufficiency .Most patients will require 10 mg for adequate effect.
USE IN PREGANCY & LACTATION
Amlodipine is noted as Pergancy Category C.Thre are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant  women .Amlodipine should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.It is not known whether Amlodipine is excreted in human milk.In the absence of this information ,it is recommended that lactation should be discontinued while Amlodipine is administered.
