Administration & dosage:
Use the drug according to physician’s instruction.
Administration in deep intramuscular injection or slow intravenous injection.
-Deep IM injection: dissolve a vial of Artesunate 60mg in 1 ml of 5% Sodium Bicarbonate solution 5%
-Slow IV injection: dissolve 60 mg of Artesunate in 1 ml of 5% Sodium Bicarbonate solution, and then add 5ml of 0.9% Sodium Chloride (1ml of solution contains 10 mg of artesunate)
For usual treatment dose:
Start is 2.4 mg/kg body weight iv or im given on time 0 then at 12 hours and 24 hours, then once daily until the patient is able to tolerate, medication when an ACT is given.\

Warning:
-After an hour of dissolving, drug solution will precipitate, so it should be injected right after being completely dissolved.
-Do not use artesunate for pregnant women in the first three months of pregnancy except for cases of severe and acute malaria.
-It is always advisable to ask your doctor’s or pharmacist’s advice before taking any type of medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Presentation: A box includes;
-1 vial of Artesunate 60 mg
-1 ampoule of 1ml of 5% Sodium Bicarbonate solution
-1 leaflet insert.
