Pharmacology : Tamsulosin Hydrechloride 0.4 mg capsule is used to treat men who have symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland, which is also known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) . Tamsulosin , an alpha-blocker, is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of BPH. Tamsulosin works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate.

Indication: Tamsulosin Hydrochloride is indicated in the treatment of functional symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia(BPH).

Dosage and Administration: The first dose when starting tamsulosin hydrochloride is 0.4 mg by mouth once daily. The dose may be increased after 2 to 4 weeks, if necessary, to tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.8 mg (two 0.4 mg capsules ) once daily. If tamsulosin Hydrochloride sdministration is discontinued or interrupted for several days at either the 0.4 mg or 0.8 mg dose , therapy should be started again with the 0.4 mg tamsulosin Hydrochloride.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Not applicable as Tamsulosin Hydrochloride is intended for male patients only.

Overdose: No case of acute overdosage have been reported . However, acute hypotension is likely to occur after overdosage in which case cardiovascular support should be given.
