Pharmacological Action
Alavox is the preparation of Etoricoxib.It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)that exhibits anti-inflammatory ,analgesic ,and antipyretic in animal modals .It is a potent ,orally active ,highy selective cyclooxygenase -2 has been shown to be primarily responsible for the synthesis  of protanoid meditators of pain ,inflammation ,and fever .Selective inhibition of COX-2 by Etoricoxib decreases these clinical signs and symptions with decreased GI toxicity and without effects on platelet function.
Clinical Information
Indication
Pain and inflammation in osterarthritis ,in rheumatoid arthritis, and in other chronic musculoskeletal disorders ; acute gout :pain if dysmenorrhea and pain following dental surgey.
Warnings
In Pregnancy & Lactation
Etoricoxib,as with other medicinal products inhibiting prostagland synthesis ,may cause uterine inertia and premature closure of the ductus arteriosus during the last trimester .Etoricoxib should be discontinued .It is not known whether this drug is excreted in human milk.Mothers who to take this medicine should not take this medicine should not breastfeed.
Drug Interactions
No clinically important drug interaction have been reported.
Dosage Regime
Adult and adolescent over 16 years;
Alavox is administered orally and may be taken with or without food.The onset of drug effect may be faster when Alavox is administered without food.This should be considered when rapid symptomatic relief is needed.
.In case of rheumatoid arthritis (can be given for 12 weeks)and ankylosing spondylitis (can be given for 6 weeks );90 mg once daily.
.In case of pain following dental surgey ,acute gouty arthritis and primary dysmenorrhea (can be given for 8 days); 120 mg once daily.
Safety and effectiveness of Etoricoxib in paedeatric have not been established.
Overdose
No overdose of Etoricoxib were reported during clinical trials .In clinical studies ,administration of single doses of Etoricoxib up tp 500mg and multiple doses up to 150mg /day for 21 days did not result in significant toxicity.

Alavox 90 tablets : Each box containing 3x10 tablets in blister pack.Each film coated tablet contains Etoricoxib INN 90 mg.
